How can they gave him a 30,000 increase that sound like a sweetheart deal.why it was added at the last minute.why teachers are leaving are district.why the books arrive 3 weeks after the first day of school.why the middle school is still doing bad.who is going to be accountable.to me this is a sweetheart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!he dicho

Teachers are probably leaving, because they are not used to performaning at certain standards. Now they feel the heat and they don't like change.

Regarding books arriving late, I'm sure there is some kind of explanation to this. Oh and about the middle school doing bad, things take time. You don't just flick your fingers or use a magic wand.

Is that a school board member answering above?

STOP READING THIS CRAP AND DO SOMETHING!!!!!!

There is no room for politics in school affairs. Unfortunately this (polotics) is always played in Lynwood and the children pay for it in the end. Pay the Superintendent what ever amount who cares, things will not change. The Lynwood Superintendent and the Lynwood City Manager get paid paid more that their counterpatrs in the City of Downey. Is Lynwood at a level higher than Downey? both in school recognition and in City government, you be the judge.

How much is the total salarie now??

Two of the board members have no job experience, and no children. That's, my friends, makes a big difference.

what are you talking about, have you seen the new invitations, solache and morales are getting married and in nine months they are going to adopt a kid.

People that work in Cities like ours, need to be paid more. Lynwood is full of problems, problems that have been inherited by the board and council. Unfortunately, when these people take on these responsibilities they know what they are dealing with and if Lynwood wants quality education and a prosperous City, us RESIDENTS have to pay.

Yes it's sad but true. The former administration screwed us and now the clean up will cost. This goes to the School Board and the City Council.

Poeple! Please wake up!

You have to work hard in order to have the job that you want.

If you teach = 40,000 plus
If you work @ a fast food = 6.75 hr.
If you ara a principal = 90,000
If you sit at home = 0.00

It's your choice!!!

We all have to work hard. So if you want to be a superintendent or any other job. Get educated and apply.

It's so easy to talk shit on this page....Don't listen to people that have nothing to do.

I don't know if the Superintendent deserves the money or not, but how can you give someone a raise when we do not know his decisions will be effective? Why not wait until August 2006 when the test scores come back? Also, how can a newly elected board member make a decision to give anyone a raise and/or contract extension? Did he have inside information? How could he have made an important decision about 2 weeks after he was sworn in. Did he trust the judgment of others on the board? This has always been the problem in Lynwood, people making uninformed decisions or trusting the word of others. At the very least, this board member should have abstained from voting because he could not have gotten the info. from all the people affected by these type of decisions (schools, students, parents, teackers, etc.). Will this school board make all their decisions on a 4 to 1 vote? How does it look to the citizens of Lynwood when our school board is not capable of independent thought? How many of us agree with other people's decisions a 100% of the time? We elect new board members and it's the same old song. Some of these are even educated, but do not confuse education with the ability to make wise decisions.

I agree with the previous comment: The new members should've abstained from voting......COMMON SENSE YOU WERE NOT THERE TO EVALUATE , STOP LISTENING TO SOLACHE AND THINK!! THINK!! THINK!

That school board member you are talking about was elected for a reason. I gave him my vote so that he would make the best possible decisions with the information he gathers. I voted for him so that he would be the board member. To the two above comments...stop playing school board member!!! I expect my elected officials to take a stand on key issues. "either shit or get off the pot" is a saying that applies here. So he wasn't there when the evaluation was conducted does this mean the ousted board member should vote!?! Think think, think, or better yet GET A JOB and do something instead of telling us what you would do if you were board member.

One more thing...if that one board member doesn't do her job as a school board member than her vote will always mean nothing...she should learn how politics works and do something about the direction the school board takes by getting the needed votes or retire already. You would think that after 16 years she would get a clue.

I agree that the school member(s) should take a stand and make a decision, however, what if all his decisions are the same as the others? All i am saying is that all members should be of independent minds and not always vote in blocks. I am not in favor of any one school board mamber over any other but all I ask that they make their decisions with foresight, with a sense of duty, and what is the best interest of the children.

As far as I can remember, the LUSD has always been about politics. Decisions have been made because of politics and look where we are today. When politics invades a school board, we start hearing about intelligent design and other political agendas. Look, I have always been optimistic about Lynwood and its new board members year after year, and i hope that that this member really does do the best job possible, all i ask is they get their facts, make informed decisions, and keep students in mind.

Also, why do people always have to say "get a job" or something similar when a person disagrees with someone or something.

I think that the new boardmember is Solache puppet.he should abstain,he didnt evaluate the superintendent,he should adstain.

Anonymous said...

sorry the new member is not solache's puppet, it is in fact solache's new boyfriend.

happy new year

We need to stop comparing our city to Downey! If this city was run the way it should be and the RESIDENTS also took part in the care of the community we could have an equally nice looking city as Downey. Just drive down any street and what do you see trash, graffitti, unmowed lawns, falling fences have any of us heard of city codes Hello? We as a coomunity need to start taking care and control of our own property because what are we waiting for ? The city to do it? I heard they are all to busy planning a wedding and picking out baby names!

Lynwood will never and could never be like Downey. Just look who is on council and the school board. You could get the best staff in the world and it will make a difference given the leadership we have. Then lets ask ourselves who put them in, us. So come on we get what we deserve.

Anonymous said...

TO the above comment;we have that kind of leaders in council\boardmember because people dont go out to vote.

Exactly, that is why we at lynwood are the brut of jokes in the southeast area. People laugh at us, what are we are fighting for, Lynwood is a mud pit. We have lost all the good employee and no one whats to come to Lynwood. What gives.
