WOW!!! I am very happy that our Lynwood school teachers have been given a contract and a salary raise. I would like to thank the NEW school board members for really bringing a new direction for our school district. My son's teacher is glad that the they have a contract after three years of not having one. I don't understand why the old board didn't give the teachers a contract.
And it is a historic day for our district that the sanctions will be removed from the district. I asked some of those teachers present at the the board meeting how did they accoplished such a task, and they said that it was a combination of the NEW board members supporing the teachers, the new superintendent and the leadership of the union working TOGETHER.
As a really involved parent I realize that we have other issues to work on, but we should really give our NEW school board members credit where credit is due. So, President Guadalupe Rodriguez, Vice President Maria Lopez, and Clerk Jose Solache THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for caring for our teachers and children.
Unlike the city council, where they are cuting people and not caring for their employees, the district has shown our community that they care for our employees. For the record, the school board not only gave the teachers a 2 and 1/2 raise, but gave one to ALL their employees...that is some GREAT NEWS.
Again, THANK YOU! and keep doing a good job.
A CONCERNED PARENT!
For the record, the Lynwood City Council gave the general employees (not management) a 5% increase, that was retro to July 1, 2004.
hummm. It seems that one of the board members themselves wrote the comments above.2 much kiss a#$#%!
For the record also. The 5% increase was for 2 years. theat means that the increase is 2.5% per year, or $1 or $2 per check.
Thank you for the the facts regarding the city raises. And regarding a board members writing those comments, I take offense to that. As a very involved parent in this community I think it is important to thank your leaders when they do something good and trust me I make sure I let them know when I have a difference of opinion with them, but agian we shouldn't always point fingers when there is something wrong.
Lets celebrate the good things and lets make sure we also let them know when we disagree. Both city council and school board members.
P.S. And if you don't know how bad those sanctions had an inpact on our district, you should ask your kids teacher. And thats why we should ALL be happy that CTA will be removing those sanctions.
A CONCERNED PARENT
My respect to the good teachers. As a parent I don't have a problem paying teachers what they deserve, as long as they show up to work!
Now that the teachers have their fair pay lets us parents, and teachers work together to ensure our children receive the education they deserve.
As far as the greivances and lifting the sanctions I would need more info.
Teachers complaint about an unsafe environment,
aren't our children in the same class rooms/schools?
Thanks for the opportunity to expresse my opinion.
THEY SHOULD SPEND THAT MONEY ON RECRUITING CAPABLE HIGLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS. AND ANOTHER PART OF THAT MONEY CLEANING THOSE RESTROOMS!!!
The Teacher could have gotten more money,,,,but did you know that the last Supt.'s Tax return was for $295.495.76 ? That's a lot for a Supt. that is no longer employeed...
I think you mean that's what his year's pay was, but that doesn't sound like the amount I heard it was. I think it was less in an article published in a local newspaper.
lynwood high should hired good teacher not phonies,I know there is one teacher in that school that give high prop about herself and she has been a prostitute, crack head pot head and has a mental condition bi-polar, parents be careful with you children!
