what the article say about Plaza Mexico getting 7 millions, license fee waive.and lots of land ITS TRUE,ITS TRUE,ITS TRUE.go to the city clerk office and request public information.you would be surprise.
Plaza Mexico is an interesting concept, but that's it. A look to the inside shows another reality. It continues to be the indoor swap meet it has always been since they were known as the Lynwood Market Place. During the meeting, the council asked each of the developers what stores they would bring, Plaza Mexico didn’t mention any. Which means they will continue to bring small businesses to the area – thus expanding the swap meet. They mentioned (which seemed to many as an act of desperation) a movie theater, but what they didn’t say is that the movie theater would be located where the old K&K building is.
The other developers have more promising tenants, like Target, Wells Fargo. This can bring far more benefit to Lynwood than an expansion of the swap meet. Like Leticia Vasquez said one time “Don’t get me wrong, but if I want to go to Mexico, I’ll go to Mexico”. She’s right to a certain extent, our community will benefit more from a shopping at Target, than shopping for crafts at a curious stand from an unknown place in Mexico.
About the petition they brought, where did the signatures come from? It appears that Donald Chae offered a presentation at La Huasteca and gave free food, etc. to those who attended. Of course you have to sign in. Good strategy I must admit, “Pan y Circo para el pueblo”, or a “taco for your support”. In other words, a master demagogue at its best - the works.
The City council has a history of surrendering to “peer pressure”, let’s hope that this is not the case. Giving in to Chae is might be a big mistake. Why? Our community can benefit far more from plurality (competition amongst retailers is good for the consumer), than a from the monopoly that Chae is building.
Before making a decision, the council must look closely at the record of each and everyone of the developers, just as the new city manager suggested. Once the matrix that Martinez requested is ready, it’ll be very clear that Plaza Mexico has failed over and over again, including illegally occupying state land for their private parking and making money from it. But will this be enough to stop the council from choosing Chae? We shall see.

ps. What was Ralph Gonzalez doing there talking in support of this project? Is that a very clear indication that Leticia Vasquez now supports the swap meet that she once viciously attacked?
Surprisingly I dont seem to get upset at Vazquez anti-Latino, or Anti Mexican remarks:
“Don’t get me wrong, but if I want to go to Mexico, I’ll go to Mexico”. I wont be surprised to
see her join Nazi Arnold in saying: "Close the Borders"
A Vazquez ataca cuando le conviene, como cuando esta tragando en La Huasteca, sus burrotes de nopales (con tenedor y cuchillo por supuesto) no ataca a plaza Mexico.
gonzo is raising money for his campaign and vazquez
Leticia vasquez no es mas que una vieja corrupta y amargada. Ya esta del lado de los que tanto odiaba. Se les olvido decir de sus borracheras en la huasteca. Ya veremos como vota.
Lynwood needs other developers that have more promising tenants like Target, Marshalls, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, Outback Steakhouse, TGIF, Albertsons, Ross Stores, and other well known retailers. Lynwood needs jobs and revenue! I agree with Plaza de Mexico being an intersting concept, but the truth is...it is a glorified swap meet. Lynwood needs to find a way to keep our own dollars revolving in our own community. I do not knock the small business owners at all, but a swap meet is not the answer. If Plaza de Mexico wants to be recognized as a shopping mall, then let the plaza look like one. As a resident here in Lynwood, I believe in investing in my community. I shop at Smart & Final, eat at Denny's (although service is not the best), grab fast food at Bobo's, eat at Hometown Buffet, and recently, I started shopping at Superior (even if the cashiers and shoppers are rude). Come on city council and developers, we are counting on you to put us on the map and attract big name retailers....I don't shop at swap meets and do not like to constantly drive to another city to buy the goods I need and get the quality I desire.
