City Gives Employees $25 Gift Certificate

Lynwood, CA - A survey was conducted by the Department of Human Resources to determine whether employees wanted a christmas party or a gift card. Employees voted in favor of a gift card. The City gave employees a $25.00 gift card. The employee association, which was created by employees themselves gave employees a $50.00 gift card.

It is embarrasing that the city pays Byrd to go to jazz festivals, and $100.00 Vasquez to go to meetings in Lynwood and cable services with pornographic materials, but only give $25.00 to employees. Isn't the association supposed to have less money than the city?

Human Resources sent out 240 surveys. Only 175 surveys were returned. The results were as follows:

92 in favor of Gift Certificates (many of us made plans about what to buy with our certificate, man were we wrong! It was just enough for a chumpe and some tortillas!)

60 in favor of Traditional Dinner at Bateman Hall (with same Orange county live band and DJ from previous years (I guess they kinda forget that we're mostly homies and brothers in this hood and we like our tunes a little rappier and mas mobidos!))

65 Didn't bother to respond (a friend of mine uses a fancy word: apathy. I say we're just tired of the same ol' all the time)

18 in favor of a Luncheon (this is a good idea, we get some free lunch, well no, we'll also get a political speech, and all the political wannabies hanging out tellin' us that when they get in, they'll serve us steak instead of fried chicken and tacos (and they won't call us burros!))

5 were undecided (can you blame them? There ain't much to choose from!)

This is a good example of how proud we are to be in Lynwood and how much we resent being called burros by our elected officials!

I found out the meaning of chumpe. I was told that chumpe is a Central American word for turkey.

GET OVER THE DAMN CARD THING. THEY WON'T GIVE YOU MORE THAN THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT WORTHY. THEY'RE BETTER OFF SPENDING MONEY ON THEMSELVES. THEY PREFER TO GET PAID FOR LOCAL MEETINGS THAN TO GIVE ANY OF YOU SOMETHING DECENT. WHO WILL PAY FOR THEIR PORNOS, JAZZ FESTIVALS, FANCY VEGAS HOTELS, ETC?
