PS Alex did not organize this event.
Isn't Landeros being paid by the Developer?
he got paid, but when he saw us organized he got scared and tried to join our group. We all saw the check and based on prior experiences with him we don't trust him one bit.
Did anyone see...

All these people always run and divide the vote for those who really want to be on council and make a change.
PLEASE be aware of these people...they only show up during election season. These types of events are when we really need them to be involved and stand up for the community.
Please don't try to show up at the end and try to save the world.
If I may offer my viewpoint on the subject...
First of all, I can't stand yellow journalism. Hundreds? Really? There were more people trying to petition my econ class last semester than there were at this shindig. Be objective.
Secondly, in that same fashion I hate yellow "protests" -- That is. Look at the signs closely, particularly the big sign they held across. Did the people who attend get a big sheet and write up their concerns? Nope. The sign was given to them by some instigator who wrote it. Look at how the letter style is the same all the way across the sign.... shame on you...
Thirdly, I got a flyer for this little dance on Monday. I found it rather amusing that the area the flyer claimed would be affected was not the actual area the proposed project would take up. Either those behind this protest were 'uninformed' and therefore acting irresponsibly, or they intentionally deceived people in order to gather support for their cause.
Do keep in mind that Lynwood houses a good number of pseudo-activists who will march against anything and everything just to add to their activist resume. Also keep in mind that many of these pseudo-activists will haul in their parents, brothers, cousins, mom's comadres, etc. etc. etc.
Having said all this:
Lynwood is not a real town. we don't live as a community. There's no heart to our city.
There's a number of people who shouldn't be living in a joint like Lynwood, but they don't leave either because they've become accustomed to living here, are too lazy to leave or are stuck here.
I understand the concern about people and their homes, but lets keep in mind that if people are helpful and they cooperate they will be paid the fair market value for their houses. And tell you the truth, many of Lynwood's home owners, really should be looking for something better, they should be moving upward.
Maybe this is simply the motivation they need. I understand the emotional attachment to a home, but dear lord people, take your checks and move on to something better.
I dont' know much about the proposal, but apparently neither did 90% of the people there last night.
The Citizenry of Lynwood is constantly [for lack of a better term] bitching about the situation of the city, and when a proposal comes up it is not even given an adequate forum to be presented?
Why don't the lot of you stop with the Soap Opera shit. Most of the people who come on this form are more concerned with attacking elected officials personally than anything else.
Great message from the previous poster, well thought-out and succinctly stated. The reason that most of the people do not move away from Lynwood is that it is a step up from whence they came. What other city allows you to park your many ugly cars on your uglier lawn and convert your garage into a three bedroom addition. Drive into our City and the signs say Pop. 76,000 swelling to over 100,000 if the truth were known. Leave?, why would anyone want to leave? The same people that post on this forum are the same that time and time again elect those who they end up crucifying. As they old adage states, your bed, you lie in it.
I, too, am a long time resident and yes it is only laziness that keeps me here. Too lazy to move. I, quite frankly only sleep here...so for me it is still a bedroom community and I could care less about the idiots protesting in the streets like some third world country. By the time I get to Lynwood they are indoors cookin' up some other craziness.

To the previous "intellectual" posters, people don't want to "sell" their homes or move, because when they bought their homes they acquired them at 50% of what they are worth now.
Usually when eminent domain is exercised, the cities redevelopment agencies, or school boards, ONLY pay what people actually paid for their properties.
They force the homeowner to sue for the rest of the money. The courts
and the system screw the homeowners over who usually don’t get adequate legal representation.
If the home owner wins the suit, the attorney fees wind up sucking up a big chunk of that money.
Follow this, if a home owner bought his or her house in 1995 for say $250,000, the monthly payment is about $1,800. The balance owed to the bank is about $200,000.
$50,000 is a good amount for down payment, but now they are forced to buy the same home the owned at today’s market value of $500,000. Then the mortgage payment would be about $3,400. And will take another 30 years to pay it off.

No hablen por hablar, eduquence!
Leticia, at 6:23 P.M. yesterday, you should have been working on how to get our community out of the mess you and the "reverend" created; instead you're chastising the very own community you claim to represent. Even before you were elected, your actions have been very questionable; living in Lakewood, you chose to be a "carpetbagger" in Lynwood and you have been abusing this community and will continue to do so until we put a stop to it. Just remember what Lynwood is; a small community and even if we don't live in what you call the affected area, we are affected. Affected by your corruption and bad faith.
Why doesn't someone recall them? That would solve the issue.
Please keep in mind that eminent domain is used in the event that people refuse to sell their homes.
Do you see what I'm saying? The proposal has not yet been presented to the citizens and you already making assumptions and presenting misinformation.
Read what I said:
If the people cooperate and are helpful by selling their houses, they will receive fair market value for them.
If they listen to the Lynwood Activists of the Future Association and refuse to sell and Lynwood decides to go ahead with the project anyway, then they'll force people out of their homes and give them only the original value of their homes.
Keep in mind that this is not eminent domain for public use which is what you described, it's a private project which means that the first step for the firm is to secure the land. But by all means, refuse to sell, that's actually more benefitial to the firm in question because then they get to go through the process you mentioned.
This is how PRIVATE deals work, which is why when projects like this are presented you have people who sell and come off quite well and the others who listen to the civil fighters end up getting screwed. Then the civil fighters write books about how the Government misuses eminent domain.
But again, the project has been presented only to city officials, and not to the citizens. The key element here is that a select few, probably just a handful of pseudo-activists, are not letting the citizenry hear the proposal. What happened to free-will and a right to self-determination?

Aide:
I've been asking the same question all along:
If the council never intended to hurt our schools and homes why did they approve the ENA?
AND
The weekend before the developer brought their team in to the council meeting (three weeks ago?)the NFL publicly said good riddance to the area.
As I said in an earlier post: who's gonna use our stadium? My kid's team? Scientology meetings? Leticia's townhall meetings?
- Fellow resident
You people are just spinning your wheels. This is not a real project. The redevelpoment area needs to be expanded and justified and that could take years not to mention the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that would required for the project. The Council did not do there homework and were not advised correctly and in turn have angered the Community that is misinformed about the entire development process. Just look who is leading the charge, Aide the Bozo.
you must be really envious of Aide. poor lonely soul.
Don't try to put the blame one person, YOU caused this confusion.
This is a community effort. Residents in the target area have asked for help and I am just glad that (Aide, Ramon, Councilmember Santillan and School Board Members Solache and Rodriguez) a few people have stepped up to organize us.
This is my first time I have gotten involved and I don't plan to stop until this is over. Over to me means: A NEW COUNCIL MAJORITY. I'd rather have people with common sense and people who care about the residents, then the arrogant, liars and snakes that I've been introduced to.
The only reason Aide is being targeted is because she is the one they fear the most. Everyone knows once Aide gets to researching she uncovers many things. The bozo as she is being called has proved many times she does know what she's talking about. They fear her for that. The one calling her a bozo is probably Leticia herself. Even that Alfreddie knows better then to mess with her. Did you guys see him telling the developer not to talk back to her at the meeting. Understand that bozo is no joke. She's an eagle in the sky searching for snakes. And she's very very hungry. It looks like she found some inside the council chambers. Have a nice feast Aide. We're on the hunt with you.
hello everyone new here... first dont worry about the project , Projects in Lynwood take centuries (plaza Mexico) and other never get done (Movie theathers on State St.) (free trade stores under the freeway) (median on LOng Beach and IMperial) (downtown Lynwood , Long Beach blvd.) (meadow park) (circle Parks) (casa grande Project) (hotel project corner long beach imperial) (new parking lot plaza mexico)(el farallon) (spring project long beach and 105 freeway) just to mention a few projects they BULLSHIT US
You are right, it does take forever for projects to get completed in Lynwood and the Redevelopment Dept. under the current City Manager has basically become a become non existent. Where's the staff? The Director, Deputy Director, Rita? I remember back a few years ago Lynwood had grand openings for three shopping centers in one year and no residents were displaced. Where has all that good planning and judgement gone? We need help.
Well, quite honestly...it's in jail for a couple years!
We all need and could use a bit of good judgement.
who's alex?

TO: The brave ANONYMOUS Idiot above
At least he has the balls to put his name!
We haven't seen Alex. Has anybody seen him. Is he still going to run for Council.
Tell you what, Alex will be a better candidate than Aide.
Only you think that Alex. The whole community sees through your evil ways.
Alex and Aide should run together on a slate. The both have big mouths.
Please, how their you compare Alex to Aide. Alex only wishes he could be like Aide. Alex is a piece of shit lying drunk. Their a big difference between being a loud mouth and being out spoken. Aide is out spoken. People respect Aide not Alex. I bet you Alex himself wrote the comment to try and be connected to her. Alex is being a big baby because he knew no one trusted him to wor with him.
Who is Bubble Butt? Is either if the two mentioned above called Bubble Butt?
