Wait a minute, Leticia Vasquez spent $16,819.54 during her FIRST 6 MONTHS in office. Is that mean that she would have spent $33,639.08 in 12 months? Vasquez spent an average of $2,803.26 per month on Travel and Meeting Expenses in 6 months. Man, that's more than I make a month! With the money she's paying to be "educated" I can feed my family every month!! They need to cut down on travel more.

I can just hear powerpuff girl saying -honey, they're burros, nobody will find out, we'll just say we're getting educated- but in the mean time, they are asking for cuts, there's no money for increases, no money for fixing streets, no money for this, no money for that, no money! we prefer ignorant leaders who improve the city than educated thiefs who are taking the city bankrupt. Don't forget the educated lawyer who's facing federal charges

do this people have a job? anyone who has a job wouldn't have time for so many meetings and trips, even if they paid you for them, I thought this council positions were part time. or what? have they made it a full time jobe with lots of overtime? we need to see the cap in travel expenses go down even more, just like Santa Monica $6,000. I don't see how we can pay $100 for a meeting in Lynwood, South Gate, or for a jazz festival or golf tournaments and there's no budget to pay more police. there's a pot hole in my street that needs fixing and I'm told there's no money, but explain something to me, where the hell do you get the money to pay for all this traveling? where's the humbleness this people had when they knocked on my door during the campaign? I thought they weren't carreer politicians. it seems that they forgot it really quick. they promised to start change at the top. they criticized the people that were there before, and now they're even worst.

For the convention in Las Vegas the City paid

Pedroza $2,194.59
Byrd $1,912.64
Santillan $1,636.66
Rodriguez $1,351.66

If they all went to the same meeting, why are we paying different fees? It doesn't make sense that there's a $842.93 difference between the highest and the lowest amount.

Same thing for the trip to San Diego in July 2003
Byrd $1,900.00
Pedroza $1,849.44
Rodriguez $400.00

There's a $1,500 difference between Byrd and Rodriguez, and $1,449.44 between Pedroza and Rodriguez. It seems that when the money is not your money, it doesn't matter how you spend it does it?

I like the Lynwood Press, they usually have good articles. What I've noticed is that they always quote the same people, specially Armando Rea. Like in this article. Armando, why didn't you do anything about this and other issues when you were in office? Why is it that all of a sudden you become a critic of the city council? That's hypocritical, we nned to look at how much you spent while you were in office, we need to see what contracts you awarded, how you got you home. Why do you want to give the image that you are immaculate? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. We need to start investigating you, I'm sure we're going to find some very interesting stuff. The community discarded because you were no longer useful as city council. Is that the same reason you are not in the police anymore? And to the paper people, there are a lot of good people out there that you can quote, or is that as far as you can go?

Who the hell does Rea think he is? Did you forget about the lawsuit you caused when you were the Mayor? Armando Rea called black council member Louis Byrd, "a little animal" and referred to blacks as "spades." Does Jack Leonard, $800-Million Civil Rights Suit Filed Against City of Lynwood ring a bell? It was in the Los Angeles Times, August 13, 1998. So Rea, don't come telling us what should or should't be done.

On the other hand, to all you other members of the council: you have to stop spending so much money. Pedroza, you're right, you show us you mean business, havent' you had enough with the movies issue? Why $24,487.58? Vasquez $16,819.54 in 6 months, I thought you said you wouldn't do the same as the others you called corrutpt? Byrd $29,553.66? I guess they were right when they said this Byrd can really fly! I want to see the numbers for this year.

Read the article from September 2003 in this link. A year after, nothing has changed.

Hi! I was a student of Ms. Vasquez and I helped her get elected because I believed in her and still do very much. During the campaign I saw so many bad things happening in our city. It is a shame you adults act the way you do. Ms. Vasquez always has nothing but positive things to say about our community and I respect her for doing what she does for so many kids and people in our city. She is not corrupt like the others! She is a positive role model to me and other kids in Lynwood. Especially because she grew up here and knows what we go through.

Dear "I Prefer An Ignorant Councilmember",

Please speak for yourself. I prefer that councilmembers spend 16,000 yearly on attending conferences to educate themselves than to have a bunch of [offensive word removed by Lynwood Watch] making important decisions for us!

This is @#$$. Leticia can spend $16,819.54 in six months, make events that nobody goes to, and then they end up giving away the food because they dont' want to put it in the trash, and we get a stupid $25.00 gift certificate for christmas. The city can spend $77,747.66 in travel but can only spend $6,250 on its employees? We are 250 employees. We the employees move the city, we make miracles even when they call us burros, we work when you travel to South Gate and charge $100.00. We are up at night fixing problems that there's no money to fix while you go to jazz concerts and golf tournaments and watch pornos. We are the ones that have to solve the complaints you make when you don't have nothing to do and are driving around the city wasting time. We have to listen to people insult us for the things you do wrong. You should start practicing what you preach. This substitute teacher is giving us a good lesson on how to spend the people's money.

Councilmember Vasquez can attend any school, college or seminar from now through the year 2050, and yet she will never learn any common sense or social skills. She is probably the most impersonal, bitter person I have ever met in this community. Her lack of respect towards the residents is evident through her ongoing and unnecessary critism. You consistently forget that it was the residents of this community, the registered voters that put you into office. They are the ones with the POWER. Not you! Ms. Vasquez you recently pulled a warrant from the Agenda payable to an attorney for fees. Did your simple mind forget that this was the attorney that represented you when you were summoned to appear before the Grand Jury (You're not quite as clean as you claim to be). You asked for back up on this warrant, will you be sharing that information with the entire community. This is a perfect example of opening your mouth and inserting your foot, which has become the norm for you Letty. You have consistently misrepresented yourself to this community. Over and over again you claim to be a teacher. However, the Lynwood School District has stated that you DO NOT have full teaching credentials and have managed to sneak by with "Emergency Credentials". I believe this means that when the schools are in desperate need for teachers, and scraping the bottom of the barrel, you are called in to substitute. God doesn't like ugly Leticia, you should LEARN to be more careful and perhaps, "think before you speak".

Finally someone said something that makes sense. I couldn't agree more: you can get the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't get the ghetto out of the girl! Letticia has the attitude of a Ricardo Sanchez, anyone notice that? She's as persona non grata as Sanchez was. She wants to protrait herself as educated, high class, yet she vomits when she travels by boat (shows that she's never had access to this life style before), she can call God a woman (is that feminism or problems with the opposite sex?), she can use bad words in Spanish (is that an indication of education level of where she grew up?), she gets $400 car allowence, but she has the nerve to use City cars with employees as drivers to transport her and her dog to City Hall and back home (the dog ate the carpet, and who paid for it?), and on , and on, and on. And whom ever said it, you are right! Why did you appear before the grand jury if you've only been in office for 6 months? Is that mean there's something we don't know about? She said she was not a career politician, but a concerned teacher (she forgot to say 30 day emergency credential by the way), so why is she looking for another job among politicians? I thought being a teacher was her carreer? Humm. She's never said anything bad about Lynwood? (just when no one is around) But then again, Richards never said anything bad about Lynwood either, do I see a pattern here? (NOT A CONCERNED TEACHER, BUT A CAREER POLITICIAN)

Can someone please tell me who Leticia's campaign manager is?

You know something, when Leticia Vasquez was elected, I didn't like her because I knew she was an ally of Louis Byrd and Paul Richards. As a result, I felt that the city would go back to its corrupt days. Pedroza voted for him because he wanted to maintain the majority of the votes on his side. Leticia voted for him because mayor Byrd helped her with her campaign and with donations. Shortly after, the clique was beginning to have problems. Pedroza's father-in-law's towing contract was cancelled and Mayor Byrd was not getting the results he expected from Leticia. These problems led me to believe that Leticia was actually becoming a good leader and a councilwoman. However, I now know that she is no different than Pedroza, eventhough they cannot stand each other. Perhaps, it might be because both of them are so greedy that they want everything for themselves.

All Pedroza and Vasquez think about is $$$$$$$, I think they both contemplate on new ways to screw the city and waste the little money the city has.

THANKS TO THIS NEW WEBSITE, I'VE NOTICED, THEY DO NOT TRAVEL AS MUCH....MAYBE MONITORING THEM WAS THE SOLUTION IN KEEPING THEM IN LINE......GOOD WORK "WATCH OUR CITY."

Per his own mouth Ralph Gonzalez is Leticia's campaing manager. According to him, he is now a lobbyist at City Hall. He says he has enough influence at City Hall to get contracs for developers. Hey, is that how they're getting money? We ought to check that guy out too. And it's true, traveling has decreased, and it's a good thing employees are beginning to voice their opinion. I'm sure they have a lot of inside information that we don't know about. Keep up the good job Lynwood Watch!

I know before the elections, when leticia was doing her campain ( like love at first sight)she has a lot of ricardo corrupto sanchez, a lot of paul corrut richards and same or a lite bit more ambition than fernando corrupto pedroza with those credentials HOW she was elected, because loius bird pay her campain, and it worths pauls interest. IF YOU HAVE DIGNITY LETICIA VASQUEZ RESING FROM THAT POSITION, YOU KNOW IS NO BELONG TO YOU.LIER SOUND LIKE LAWYER BUT IT'S LIER.
