Lynwood Watch, can you please forward a message to the mis-informed Aide Castro.

Hey Aide, I was starting to listen to you, but you really blew it today. I received your HITPIECE in the mail and I couldn't help but realize how stupid you really are. I thought you said you do your homework. Well then you get and F in research.

SELAC is a Project born from Paul Richards. Look at the players. If you had spent any time in Lynwood politics before they became beneficial to you, you would know this.

MURIEL ESTATES (yes Aide, it is spelled with an E and not an A you also get an F in spelling) is also a creature borne from Paul Richards. Where do you get off blaming the current Council for these projects.

And lastly, Whispering Glenn, I hope that Abell Helou sues your butt off for making false accusations against a notable company.

Some of us have been in Lynwood a lot longer than you have and we remember all the bad projects that were brought forward by Paul Richards. I'm sure that I am correct when I say that if he hadn't done anything wrong he wouldn't be on trial right now.

These are just a couple of the creatures created by past councils that put money in the pockets of past elected officials at the cost of taxpayer money.

Why don't you mention the Lynwood Entrepreneur Academy, or the Ambassador Program or the Lynwood Local Development Company? They weren't that long ago.

In conclusion, your feeble attempts at pointing the finger at someone else has backfired on you. Not only have you lost my vote, but I plan on telling my neighbors, friends and family not to support you as well!

To all of the comments regarding Aide. The projects you are talking about are probably terrrible. But what does that have to do with the bad decision making the council has made on the projects Aide is talking about. The current council is responsible because they had to fix them. They chose not to.

Maria claimed she recalled Paul to get rid of corruption. Then she goes and gives Arsenio Frontela the SELAC project after she had him build her house on Pope. Then she voted against the salary cut Leticia proposed. Check the minutes. Both her and Ramon voted no. She claims she voted to cut credit cards, but it was Fernando who proposed it to save himself.

Ramon said he would clean up the city. Then he goes and violates the law with a 1090 conflict of interest. The city attorney put a stop to it on the council. So now he has his wife on the school board to do it for him. He has made about 60 thousand so far for ACE Lumber. Even if he abstained he can still lobby for his contract and make the council feel obligated to vote in his favor. He also purchased his home from Abell Halleu. They think they can hide it because Abell put the house under his partners name. He moved into the city and had 8 of his family members arrested for voter fraud. Are we supposed to forget all of this. NO NO NO

Fernando really screwed us. He gave his father in law a sweet deal by selling him the land dirt cheap and the towing contract. Let's not forget all the trips and pornos. Last him supporting Paul during the recall.

All 3 of them need to go. You guys need to make up your mind whetther you want change or not. Aide has guts to stand up to her cousin. All I've heard since she begun her campaign is that she is corrupt like her cousin. Then she comes out and hits him. That's not easy to do. She claimed the piece. She didn't do it anonomously like others do.

Why don't you ask the council why they approved Whispering Glenn using a 25 year old enviromental impact report. Ask them why they are not prosecuting SELAC and Muriel Estates for stealing our money. Or did they help them. Will they blame Luis Morales. THey had the chance to fire him many times. He would give them wrong information, and they never did anything about him. It took a new city manager to do it. Does Luis have them black mailed? All I know is that Luis has new job with Fernie's friend.

The truth hurst, but we need to know it. Think about it people if she claimed it, it's simply because she can back it up with proof. That is why all 3 are running scared. Paul started the projects but the council benefited from it. They should have read the contracts and proposals before approving them. They will blame staff. But it is their responsibility.

It is a shame that all 3 have the nerve to run on good government. They have no idea what it is. Aide is shaking things up, and good for her. She is the only one with a platform that includes term limits and contribution limits. Change is hard. If Aide can stand up to her cousin and people like Leticia, Mark Kudler, Abell Halleu, and the council, she has my vote.

Remember people. Ramon and Fernando had 4 years to fix these projects and they made them worst. Maria had 2 years and she did nothing. The 3 projects Aide mentions were all voted on and discussed in the last 2 years. Think about it.

LynwoodWatch,

I congratulate you for your persistence and perseverance in keeping up the LynwoodWatch blog.

Happy 1st year anniversary!

The Sunday L.A. Times has a great piece on Regency this weekend (10-23-05): “Sign Firm Accused of Corruption”.

Richard Polanco is prominently mentioned in this well researched report and is intimately tied to Regency's web of corruption, not as a victim, but a as a willing conspirator.

The Latino Caucus in Sacramento allegedly benefited from a $25,000 contribution from Regency in exchange for Polanco spearheading a senate bill through the State Assembly that was all but written by Regency. It became state law.

Polanco is mentioned in the sidelines during the Richards Federal corruption case currently underway.

Polanco, the termed-out former state senator, has not been charged with any wrong doing.....yet.

To pay Richard Polanco to make this call seems highly suspect and just does not make sense to justify such seemingly irresponsible use of public funds by Lynwood officials.

It does not make sense until you connect the dots.

Any citizen reading this weekend’s Times report by Ted Rohrlich on Regency’s alleged corruption can reasonably conclude that Polanco too was corrupt when he was in office. Regency bought him for $25,000.

Any citizen reading the L.A. Times back on November 17, 1999, in a report also written by Rohrlich, will assume the worst of Polanco: “A Scramble for Power, Patronage; The battle for lucrative city attorney contracts in L.A. County's heavily Latino cities has resulted in some nasty allegations. Ex-partners in a well-connected firm are in the center of the storm”.

The law firm? Francisco Leal and Arnoldo Beltran’s firm. Well connected to whom? State Senator Richard Polanco and Assembly member Marco Firebaugh, both prominent Latino Caucus elected officials.

Their Modus Operandi: have Richard Polanco, then a State Senator, bully local southeast L.A. County cities hire the law firm of Leal & Beltran as for lucrative city attorney contracts. Then State assembly member Marco Firebaugh was in on the shakedown of local elected officials too.

According to Rohrlich’s November ’99 report, referring to Leal & Beltran, stated that “They have used the specter of recall campaigns as a threat against newly elected Latino officials if those officials do not vote to give them contracts, the officials or their associates charged in interviews with The Times. In one instance, a political ally of the lawyers, state Sen. Richard Polanco, allegedly did the threatening for them”.

Arnoldo Beltran is the current city attorney in the City of Lynwood. Francisco Leal is the current city attorney in the city of Huntington Park. Francisco Leal was selected by as H.P’s city attorney in closed-door session and without competing bids from other attorneys.

The Elected official in Huntington Park who proposed hiring Leal without competing bids, then Mayor Edward Escareno, was Rosario Marin’s lackey while Marin served as US Treasurer in Washington DC. Rosario would call Escareno on a daily basis. Her friends and local businessmen continued getting lucrative contracts here.

Continue to follow the money and connect the dots.

The money and dot trail does not stop in Lynwood.

Very informative comment. Recently, Polanco is part of the Mark Kudler contract. And two council meetings ago the Lynwood City Council voted unanimously to give Firebaugh and Leal a lucrative deal as consultants.

Happy 1 year Lynwood Watch.

No kidding, and the article mentions the rivalry of Dymally and Polanco.

There was a Latina running against Dymally that year.
