Read the fine print. This "Survey" is actually a marketing campaign to PUSH the project to the public.

NOT to see how they feel about it.

we do need this kind of projects in our city. I AM TIRED OF GOING TO LAKEWOOD, TO EAT AND SHOP!

I am so happy that finally we have the opportunity to have this kind of development. Lynwood desperately needs this project people. It will generate jobs and income for out city.

People, people, people don't you know the City will be bankrupt in a few years if we don't have enough revenue coming in. I know you don't want your taxes to go up, so what is your alternative to generate tax revenue?
You need development and big business to come in to the City that pays big taxes. You can not be stagnant. This is 2007 and your city looks like you still living in 1960. Move forward.
Anyone who is against development is only thinking about themselfs and not the rest of the community.
We have no movie theater, no nice restaurants, no department stores to buy nice cloth, no clean hotel. Plaza Mexico is a gloryfied swap meet. The bottem line is, stop crying and move on.
People in the affected area should be happy to get new homes and get out of this old and run down neighborhood, and realize this recall is not about the development, it's about a few people who have personal issues with the current council. I feel sorry for the poor families who are told lies and may miss out on a great deal for a new home and a nice neigborhood.
This survey does not cost the citizens a dime. People of Lynwood stop listening to does lies and nagative thinking people, I know you are more intelligent then to fall for that.
Watch Dog!, with your attitude you just keep watching our City going down.
NO ON THE RECALL. NO ON NEW TAXES.

Why is Lynwood the only city that does not want progress? Compton is even leaving us behind because those residents realize that it takes sales tax & jobs to do better. It does not matter where you build in Lynwood, homes will be lost for the betterment of the community.

How strange that the new people doing the survey have almost the same name as araujo, don't be fooled they are still trying to find out who signed the re-call don't fill out the survey and don't answer any question. If they send you a survey write yes on re-call and send it back.

when will the city get a real recreation director, autra adams, is never at any city events, and has 9 empoylle grivances filed agianst her

Then move to Lakewood.........oh yeah, you can't afford to live there yet so you are forced to live in Lynwood.

Anonymous said...

To the blogger 9-6/7:06

You are the prime example of what is going on our City right now. You don't want to move forward, you are happy to live in a City that will be bankrupt and has nothing to offer. You must be one pittyful person or very old, and like to live under these circumstances. Why would you not want to have jobs? Why would you not want to have a nice clean reataurant to eat a decent meal? Why would you not want a clean City for your children to grow up in? Let me guess, you are the kind that has no life and is contend with nothing.
And yes, I can afford to live in Lakewood or anywhere else,I'm not forced to live anywhere you idiot. To make such statement is just downright stupid. This is my City too , and people like you need go. You have no vision, you are useless, you are no asset to the community. What are you afraid of?

NO ON THE RECALL

Anonymous said...

Blogger September 3 - 10:54, why are you so paranoid, and why are you telling people to throw someting in the trash that could change and make their life much better. What does araujo has to do with it? My God, you people are so ignorant, it's just a questionaire.

This survey is another example of how council spends money that is not coming out of their pockets.

The survey will be followed by "live people" phone calls. Tape these phone calls, listen to the questions. The consultant will support the council.

That's their ultimate goal, to keep these corrupt politicians in office. Same tactic used in South Gate.

If South Gate can recall their council mayority, So can Lynwood!

Yes on Recall!!!

Anonymous said...

Yes on Recall! If you don't like the candidates, say yes to Recall and let the other residents decide!

It can be worse than what we currently have.

Vasquez, stop using your mother to make your phone calls.

"Forced to live in Lynwood" What an idiotic comment. You should know that most of us that care about Lynwood live here by choice and are happy about the prospect of the new development. NO ON THE RECALL!!!

To My friend with the opinion at 12:40 pm Sep. 02,2007.

Tell me what happened to our past neighbors at the Ham Park replacement area?
Current Council members CAN'T be trusted not even with a sack of Escorpions.
They missed the Park cost by over Pay very close attention!!
$ 15,000 000.00 (Fifteen Million Dollars) in case you can't read numbers. That was under very expensive Real Estate Consultants.

Now can we take an other chance and instead of shopping-eating in Lakewood are we going to shop-eat in Lynwood bare dirt and grass out of those empty lands? wait and see when the rain comes and we will have a Jungle to pick Berdolagas.
And you Big Sopporters of the current council and stadium can be first in line.

Then we will have the tax revenue to pay for everything, and your Ham Park will be beautyful for you to enjoy and shot up.
Yes I can read numbers, can you write numbers? If you write a straight number, never ad ,00 in cents. Thats some advise from someone who makes a living with numbers. You see, sometimes it's better to shut up and look smart, then to open your mouth and be an idiot.

For all you people that love Lynwood and are against the recall and are "not forced to live in Lynwood", why don't you run for City Council? Get involved!

Actions speak louder than words!

Most of us agree there is a lack of leadership in Lynwood. That's why we have random people running for office just so they can vote a certain way. Take a look at the Recall "Joke" Election. We should have saved our money and waited until November. But the council members have forced the community into drastic measures. They have ruined our sense of community because they didn't know how to handle the situation.

Here is the solution to all this:

Quality Candidates and Educated Voters!!!!! So far I don't see this happening. And when I say educated, I don't mean educational level. Just know who the candidates are and not vote by what their last name is on the ballot.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, move to Lakewood and eat at fine dining establishments such as Chili's. :)

The survey has already been conducted by recall signatures. Lynwood residents will no longer tolerate corrupt council members. The council has 19 more days! This is so exciting, to finally see all the hard work come full circle. See, "we the people" can change the course of the politics in our city. We the tax payers are IN CHARGE!! Happy day, Happy day!!!!

It's scarry to think that you are able to vote. Do you even understand the whole process? Do you comprehend to what you read?

People of Lynwood,

while I agree that this city need serious redevelopment, why must it be at the cost of displacing thousands of residents. Do you realize that it affects the schools as well. Less kids, less students, drops in enrollment, less teachers.

Why do we need a football stadium in Lynwood? Let's suppose that we get a stadium and lure someone like the Oakland Raiders to our city, do you realize the kinds of fans they'll attract, 65,000 Young Crowders and "Segunderos" every Sunday, man that sounds safe.

Why don't we redevelop on a smaller scale, place chain stores (Target, Macy's, etc.) along Imperial Hwy intersecting California Ave all the way to Alameda. It could be like Tweedy mile in South Gate, with a minimal amount of population displacement and many residents reap the benefits of the increased tax dollars, property values, and Lynwood residents supporting local business.

Fine. Yes Lynwood needs more tax revenue to build a better place; No argument there! The problem is that the city can't seem to find anyone to manage even the smallest projects without being corrupt and/or inept.
I have (2) city blocks of dirt in front of my house; the "future" Ham Park. A brand new high school was built atop a brand new park recreation building at the old Ham park, only to build a stadium on top of that? Great way to manage and (waste) tax payer money, if you ask me.
Let’s see… so far we have managed to bulldoze (1) brand spanking new park recreation building, (2) entire neighborhoods,(not the best neighborhoods I admit) to make way for the school and new park, still unfinished after over (4) years I might add, and no finish date (or money) in sight.
So now we are supposed to trust a hand full of nearly recalled politicians, when they tell us that the stadium is just a thought, and nothing will come of it…. And Eminent domain will not be the way they sell out 1000 homes, the new school, etc?? Sure we are.
They sent me this bogus “survey”, postage due yet! How about putting it on the ballot people??? If you want a vote, take a damn vote!!
That survey is a 3rd world vote at best!
If and when we feel we have good leadership in this town, capable of running this new planned project; hell yes, a stadium would be just fine. If those 1000 people want to sell their home at a huge profit, which they would if they were smart, and don’t worry, at the price of a football ticket, the stadium people will have paid for 10 times over in the first few years… so be it!
But if the current leadership, or even the people trying to snatch their seats have anything to do with it, Lynwood will be no better than downtown TJ in no time. The “revenue” will walk away in someone’s pocket, as it has time and time again around here, and the burden will be left to us citizens, as usual. These people have been investigated and recalled for a reason. It took plenty of damning evidence to put them in the spot they’re in. Don’t let ‘em fool ya!

Anonymous said...

People should be neutral like you miss Santillan. I like how your internet web don't promote a candidate and you show us where we can vote.

I mailed my survey. I think it's a great idea creating something new that will bring more jobs and revenue to the city. Hopefully, this'll draw business from other cities too unlike that racist, uninclusive Plaza Mexico.

Anonymous said...

To the previous poster. Since you seem to have all the answers and appear to know what's best.
How but running for office?

It's easy to be a backseat driver or a bullfighter from the stands.

You gotta be kidding!!!

Do you even have a clue about the 3 bozos running with Aide Castro?
Have you investigated them?

Or what about Ramon Rodriguez?

She was receiving two pay checks at one time.

EDUCATE yourself before opening your big mouth.

I don't like the current City Council, but the choices are worse.

This is a good case of the

CURE BEING WORSE THAN THE DISEASE!

I'm voting no on the recall.

Anonymous said...

I don't know if I'm for it or against the development. I've gone to those meetings where they preach to the choir, to those few who will lose their houses due to eminent domain.

They're not seeing the bigger picture, it might actually help the city. Most Lynwood residents don't care because it doesn't directly affect them. I don't see how it's bad thing for the rest of the 70,000 or so residents in the city.

I need to know more before I make up my mind.

Anonymous said...

Please, don’t misunderstand. My comment had nothing to do with the recall election itself, but rather, I question who in their right mind would trust ANY of the people in our current local politics, incumbents or otherwise, to honestly run a project such as Angels fields.
I say recall the current people before they dig their heels in any further, and start the recall process ASAP for the newbie’s.
You know, you too could run for office, smarty.

And yeat he is a shame to the Afro American community for his roll as follower to the convicted Paul Richards. Claims he know how to spell but I assure you, he knows better to count money.

CITY OF LYNWOOD COALITION MEETING

To all Lynwood organizations and community members:

The city of Lynwood is faced with a major damaging project not seen since Dodgers Stadium. The project, known as Angels Fields, would increase traffic, increase rents, increase taxes on homes, evict hundreds of local homes and businesses, and destroy four schools (Such as Vista Continuation School and Firebaugh High School). Our surrounding communities, South Gate and Compton, would feel the backlash of externalities as well as the problems mentioned above.

We are faced with a corrupt city council that has not informed the city of Lynwwod on both sides of this issue. They have mailed and misinformed our city with propaganda advertising this project, causing a division.

Please, join us as wel map our plan of action against this outrageous proposal!
