Thank you Lynwood City Council.

Congratulations, now that horrible little corner of Lynwood gets to remain a horrible little corner.

This stadium was never a legitimate project. The only good thing to have come out of this phony project was that we were able to get rid of Lou Byrd, Prdroza, Johnson, and Vasquez. The draw back was that we got stuck with Aide "parrot nose" Castro. We moved forward but then took two steps back.

whats the word on the stupid stadium?

BEWARE: Sylvia Ortiz is on the loose!

I hope everybody is happy now. No developement no revenue.
So, stop whinning about the high taxes, the high water bill, high trash bill and all the other things you end up paying for.
The ship is sinking. Slowly but surely.

Education, Education, Education. I would encourage residents of Lynwood (parents, children, teachers, staff, administrators, AND the city council) to take a look at www.greatschools.net to see where Lynwood has to improve. Okay, no stadium, but still no improvement in the city's schools. Residents also need to ask the council why we can't have businesses like Ross, Marshalls, In-N-Out, or a full-service supermarket like Stater Bros. There are so many great things we can do in Lynwood to make it an example of forward progress, but why can't the city council see that?

Last nights councilmeeting was a total joke. Council continues to LIE to the residents about the utility user tax. They should stop spending so much of our tax money on LACS and on their traveling. They should stop illegaly taking that utility tax too. Say no to taxes in Lynwood!

Anonymous said...

Vote no on the illegal tax that the city has been collecting for over 10 years. Say no to corrupt and greedy Lynwood politicians. Lynwood councilmembers are some of the highest paid city councilmembers in the state of california and they spend more money than any council in surrounding citites on travel and by giving money our tax money to their cronies. Say no to the tax!

Of course she is (Sylvia). She doesn't have a job, and doesn't want to pay for anything. Who does? Unfortunately these services need to be paid by someone.

Even if you don't vote for the UUT - YOU will still have to pay because if it isn't approved, the City will have to cut other service and increase other fees.

Anonymous said...

Someone has to speak on the behalf of the people of Lynwood!

Anonymous said...

Residents are paying more than enough to live in Lynwood. Services
cut? Come on,what services? I pay my yard guy to cut my trees and I paint my own graffitti off my garage. Any service I recieve from the city, I pay for it! July the water rates are increased by 5%. City Hall has been sticking it to residents consistantly and regulary for the past 3 years. No one is going for 9.5% ESPECIALLY when residents realize that they have been getting ripped off for 14 years!

This phoney city council should stop with their perks and salaries. Lynwood City Council is still one of the highest paid city councils in the state for a city of our size. Did you watch the circus in the council meeting last tuesday. What a joke. The council talked about term limits on the ballot. They know they don't need to waste taxpayer money and take it to the ballot they can approve it themselves like Cerritos. Long Beach and many other cities have done. Also they say term limits won't apply to them. What a JOKE! Thay also talked alot of s#!* about Sylvia at the end of the meeting in council orals. What happened Sylvia, I thought Ramon and Maria were your friends. Of course you should not be surprised about Aide(parrot face) talking about you. But what about the rest?

to the www.greatschools.net blogger i suggerst you move out of Lynwood if you want to find a good education for your child. LUSD has a poor of sending kids to college. Can you imagine... only 8% of the graduating class goes to college. This mean GRADUATING students. Lynwood Unified refuses to maintain records of drop out rates and spend their time bragging about the 100 students out of a graduating class of over of 7,000 (this includes all Lynwood high schools)WHAT A PITIFUL DISTRICT. That is why I preferred to just move out and send my kids to real schools in a district like Downey Unified that really cares about education.

Can someone tell me, why at the Planning comm. meeting last Tuesday three council members were presant at the meeting? Isn't that a violation of the Brown Act? Looks like we've got a new set of violators. If it's not a violaton, it sure LOOKS like one. A bogus petition was submitted to the comm. I can only guess who generated it. Probely staff. You have to get up real early in the morning to pull the wooley over my head.

It is unfortunate that we have a council that ignores the issues that plague this community. Lucky for them, they have lead perfect lives. How hipicritical! All of sudden our council has turned into corporate America. Not giving a crap about the poor and the imperfect. Why is Rebecca Wells sittng on the planning commission? She blew into town less than a year ago. What makes her an expert on Lynwood residents? She represant about 1% of the population. It is a crime that she sits on a board at all. Thank God that election time is next year.I heard that Flores was telling a resident that he will not run again. He said that he only cared about the project getting cancelled. Another one who doesn't give a rats ass about this community. He should resign like his buddy Martinez. I thought another recall would be too much for this community BUT, I can see that we still don't have a elected official that cares about ALL the people of LYNWOOD. The only difference I have seen , is my water bill going up by 5% in July, the council proposing to continue to rip me off for 9.5% utility tax, and watched council give my money away to pay for political favors. Put a fork in me,i'm done watching this crap.

Update already!

Sylvia for city council. She will straighten out our city!

Anonymous said...

Hey ignorant if the council passes an ordinance any other council can come and change it. That's why term limits need to go to the vote of the people. This council is doing a great job. The UUT is 9% not 9.5% get your facts straight. Lst, it's only a violation of the Brown Act if 3 councilmembers discuss business without posting the information that will be discussed. But they can attend any meeting.

No council member is Sylvia Ortiz friend. They just tolerate her because thier afraid she'll recall them. The girl has BIG balls and is not afraid to use them.

Can someone explain to me why the Mayor and Pro Mayor are in Talpa? It seems to me,the council should be concerned with LYNWOOD. Should they be spending money traveling to visit Maria's family members? Hell NO they should not! Employees are loosing thier jobs and our leaders are out walkig the red carpet in Talpa!

to July o7 1:19pm looks like you could go back to school yourself. I hope you're not home schooling your childern. I'll help you move, when do you want to go? How about yesterday!

To the "hey ignorant" commentator that's you parrot face Castro, stop spending your time on this blog and go get a job. You're like your counsin Pedroza feeding off of Lynwood taxpayers. Oh and don't forget you high drop out, that your the biggest ignorant person around. By the way the Los Angeles County is also putting the UUT on the ballot theirs is 5.5%. Sylvia got it right! You go girl! Sylvia for council!

Anonymous said...

Everyone on the council except for Morton has a job. If the person who wrote the last comment would actually attend council meetings they would actually know what is happening. You need a new source...

Sylvia might have the UUT of 5.5% right in L.A. But L.A. also has tons of businesses that pay sales taxes. The prior council missed the boat on many ooportunities to bring quality businesses. They were too busy waiting for the right one to bribe them.

You can continue blaming Castro for my comments. But you only show how ignorant you really are, and how much she scares you. I'll admitt I taught she would be like her cousin. But she has proved me wrong with her actions. The two woman on our council are to be commended. Both work full time jobs and still manage to take care of their families. Let's not forget that this coucil only gets paid about $800.00 a month. Definately not enough to deal with all you ignorant people who only want to attact this council to create jobs for yourself. Sylvia is the one that needs to get a job and get off welfare. She's been offered a job. But she would rather pretend like she works, when she's driving around getting drunk pretending to run campaigns. That is not who belongs on our council. I'll go with the high school drop out who works full time and owns a business. Not perfect but much better.

Anonymous said...

Oh please, not one of our council members can throw a rock in a glass window. They all have skeletons in the closet. The only differnce is, that Sylvia admitts her short comings and owns up to it. That's why she is so effective at the door. She mirrors the people of Lynwood. The good ,the bad and the ugly. She represants those who have no voice. She is a true Lynwood leader!

Anonymous said...

Our coucil is still the highest paid council in the southeast. You are a lier. You get $35,000 a year for a part-time job! What a joke. Don't forget all the extravagant travel you do from Talpa Mexico to Las Vegas, Nevada. Why don't you vote to lower you salaries and perks instead of trying to pass the illegal tax you have been collecting all these years.

Anonymous said...

No Sylvia. You do not mirror this community. Our community is hard working humble people. If our residents have short comings they want to make sure their children don't suffer the same. They don't support gang members. You're racist towards black so you could never represent them. You don't speak spanish so you will never understand the latino culture. That's probably why you were a gang member. To have a sense of belonging. You hate yourself and that's very evident.

Anonymous said...

Hey parrot face Castro you have your nerve talking about somebody being on welfare. Your whole is about collecting some kind of welfare.. From the house you live in today to the business you say you have. You got it all from some type of welfare program. Today you live off of Lynwood taxpayers.

Anonymous said...

Your funny, I know enough spanish to explain the utility tax and to sign your name for a recall. That's all I need. X8!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Who are you fooling,? The Mayor and Pro Mayor hate each other. Always have and always will.

Anonymous said...

Sillicon Santillan is keeping things cool for now. She knows she's up for re-election next year and she does not want to upset Castro and Billy MArtinez and the others or they will go against her again. She knows how to play the game.

Anonymous said...

Those two baffoons are just playing games with each other. Yeah they can't stand each other but they will scatch each others back when they need to. The main #1baffoon is Sillicone Santillan. Did you hear her at the last council meeting. She can't even read. I wonder where she got her GED from? OOps, I'm sorry to spill the beans she doesn't even have a high school diploma. Sylvia for council! and NO TO THE ILLEGAL UUT!

Lynwood Residents:
READ Attentively
Don't you want the city of Lynwood to be "hooked up"? Ask yourselves why don't we get "real" businesses to come into our city? Almost every project or "plaza" popping up has the same mom & pop feel to it, the same mom & pop shops. The person who wrote on July 29 is right!!!! Why can't we have some cool businesses come to our city?
Imagine what a Target would do for the city. Imagine what a Costco would do for it. Imagine if something as simple as the streets (Pavement) could be repaired (I've passed by Alemeda, and its awful along MLK Blvd going towards Alemeda)
Or Imagine this... What if we could make PLAZA MEXICO look like the Irvine Spectrum or City Walk in Studio City? The PLAZA has so much potential, but why can't the PLAZA house "real" businesses like Ross, Bestbuy, or Kohls? Maybe because the owners don't want to. Maybe the residnets of Lynwood don't deserve it. And if that is the case, residents should voice these desires to elected officials.

And while we are on the topic of elected officials... Is it me or doesn't it seem that you have to be in a suit and tie to be heard (and respected) by our elected officials (The CITY COUNCIL and the SCHOOL DISTRICT) I've heard stories of parents going to their child's school and being looked down upon, but when a person is walking around with a suitcase, tie, and/or suit, wow they get the "star" treatment. "Do you need any help" or "how can we assist you sir/mam?" I've even heard some officials say that some of our schools (which means our children) need a military style principal! WHAT!? Thats how bad it is, that the school district, with all their Phd's, can't come up with a better plan other than "strict military style". What did you study in your PhD program, and did the program teach you some sociology to understand the issues faced in urban neighborhoods? Or was that not part of the curriculum. Some elementary schools don't even have a formal LIBRARY, like LINCOLN ELEMENTARY. What message are they sending our kids? Oh, study and do good in school, but a site where reading, a foundation to learning, is reinforced is not "that" important.

And not to mention the fact that many school employees drive "very" nice vehicles (BMW's, Mercedes, LEXUS)to their school that don't have a speck of "GREEN" grass. And what do they say? Oh, well parents should volunteer to clean-up the schools and put grass if they want to. WHAT!!! Aren't there city employees that do that?! Can't teachers pitch in to get someone to plant the grass, or is that "TOO" much $. I know it's not too much $ for principals. Or are the kids of Lynwood just not worth it?

And as for the "employees" in our school district (top dogs and teachers alike), LYNWOOD RESIDENTS should require a survey to be conducted asking the employees questions like: Are you just counting down to retirement? Do you consider yourself too be passionate about your work? Are there any changes you would like to see at your school? I've heard that the jungle gym at Lincoln Elementary has been there for over 15 years, and that the gate surrounding the school has been there for more than 20 years! WOW! But, the city built the behemoth junior high school on MLK; couldn't some cash have gone to the little school?
Lynwood is a great place, and it could get better. This blog is cool because we can voice our opinions and ideas, and share them with other concerned residents.

Residents Remember: Tell the "elected officials":
1. What kinds of businesses would improve our city.
2. City Council and School District officials, employees, etc need to work together, not independently, too arrive at ways to improve our schools (including some of our NEGLECTED schools, like Lincoln Elem.) Improve our schools to help our children improve. Some may say that a Library is not that important, but how can a place where students learn the fundamentals not be important?

I LOVE LYNWOOD. It really is a good city, and with proper attention, can be a GREAT city and a model for others.

Lynwood Residents please read this message twice, or thrice, and include your opinions. There are residents who want to hook-up Lynwood, and if we work together we can accomplish great things for future generations to enjoy and be proud of.
